About
The Hempstead Aero Modelers Society, known as the HHAMS, was founded in late 1991 by seven individuals. Within a short time, membership grew to around twenty, and now we have over 100 members and growing.
Our goal is to be beginner-friendly and accommodate all those who wish to learn about our great hobby. Many flyers have learned their basic flying and building skills from our experienced members and have gone on to teach the new generation of modelers.
Visitors are all welcome to the
Field, we fly at the Town of NorthHempstead Aerodrome, the HHAMS are the official operators of this facility. For you to fly at our field, you will need to become a member, maintain membership with the AMA, and obtain a town of North Hempstead Aerodrome permit.
We embrace all forms of RC flying. Due to the logistics of the field, control line, free flight, nonpowered gliders/sailplanes, rockets, and turbine jets, are not permitted.
For more information, you are welcome to attend our monthly meetings, every second Thursday of the month, at the Port Washington VFW hall, located at 29 Mohegan Ave. NY 11050
Please see the contact page for the field location.

Hours of operation are from 9:00 am to mid-afternoon, but the best time to visit is from 10:00 am to noon during the week, and anytime on the weekend, weather permitting.
If you see the gate open, come up and say, "hello." Introduce yourself, and we can answer any questions you might have, and assist you in exploring the world of radio control flight.
