We just wanted to let everyone know where we are at regarding reopening the Aerodrome. The Town has stated
that they want the final report from the DEC and the county before opening the Aerodrome. The problem is that the final report
could take a long time, as much as a year, to be finished. It would then go to the State, and the DEC would take months to
issue their final report. We have spoken to the DEC and they told us that as far as they are concerned, the property can be
used.The county agrees. We have heard from the Chief Engineer from the County's Public Works Department
who was in charge of the remediation project. He is aware of the problem and has generated a letter
assuring the Town that the property can be put to use. That document is circulating in the County government
getting approval and signatures from the proper people. Then it will go to the town. He tells us this should happen within
the next two weeks (by the end of July) and will keep us informed. Hopefully
this will satisfy the Town and we can get on with opening the field.
